Fraud: The Eight Circle

“Where self serving politicians and thieves suffer for their sins against humanity.”

Half a billion people in India have no formal identification, meaning more than 50% of monies from government subsidies for anything from food to welfare are siphoned off by bent politicians and middlemen.

Fingerprint and iris biometric data being collected now will be stored and linked to a 12 digit identification number, and issued to the people as identity cards.

Exploring computer vision, pattern recognition, wavelet codes and algorithms, Professor John Daugman’s research has crucial application in the new personal identity system UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Aadhaar translates as base, foundation. Aadhaar cards will give people proof of their identity, access to welfare and combat fraud.

The 3D cogs represent the masses going round in circles of despair and frustration. Scanned and documented, the individual is established, middlemen cut out and the welfare handed directly to the needy.
